LRP Questions/Policy on Spam
I have something I'd like to sell.../I am a Pagan business owner.../I have stuff on eBay.../I do Tarot readings.../A group I know of is having an event... etc.
Go ahead and post it. In the past, I've moderated this, but now I think that if you are an active group member that it's not really a big deal. HOWEVER, you do have to be active to post stuff like this. If you subscribe for the sole purpose of spamming us all or post your ad before your intro, then you'll be moderated or yanked.

I have a Yahoo Group and I’m going to send a post to yours encouraging all of your members to convert to mine.
I control no one’s conscious, and if they’d rather be in your group, then fine. However, I, along with other group owners, feel that it is in poor netiquette to advertise your group without the group owner/moderator’s permission. So, if you would like to do this, please ask first.

There's a flame war going on at another group I belong to. I'm going to post all about it on this group to bring the argument here too.
Um, no you won't. Cross-posting of this nature, is not only against netiquette, it will get you banned. Period. Don't like it? Then don't cross post.

What is LRP?
Lakes Region Pagans

I know that, what kind of group is it?
We’re a social networking group. We have no hierarchy, though Sabrina is the founder and pretty much makes all the decisions. Think of it as a benevolent dictatorship.

Are you a coven?
No, we’re not a coven, a grove or anything of that nature.

Are there any covens in the area?
Yes, there are. However these are always changing, so I'd recommend visiting the Witches' Voice site, http://www.witchvox.com. At this printing, I know of a coven in Round Lake Beach, possibly one in Zion, a circle in Kenosha, and an ADF Grove in Crystal Lake. People in the group may be members of these groups, so feel free to ask about them. A couple of people from our group have recently formed their own study group which may form into a coven. Feel free to post a question about it on the list and someone will answer you.

I'm new to the Chicago area. What is the Pagan community like here?
Like anything everyone has their own opinions on this. I think that it's good, but it could be better. Chicago's infrastructure and geography lend to it being pretty difficult to get around, so there's more separation than might be in other cities. There are of course politics and 'Witch Wars' but don't let that discourage you because that's the minority. I have met more good, nice, kind people in the area than jerks.

Can you teach me Wicca?
Uh, well, possibly not. Our group is eclectic and not everyone is Wiccan. (including the founder) We’re not a “teaching” group per se, but I won’t speak for everyone because who knows, you may find a teacher among us. If you’re looking for a teaching/learning experience, you might want to check out the Witches' Voice site, http://www.witchvox.com as they list some groups in the area that do teach.

What happened to your website?
Uh, well, it's back!! I've always had a website that "promoted" the group, but now we're back to having a website again! Woo-Hoo! I believe that websites like this for groups make it easier for people to find the group and serve as a means to find out more information about the group before someone joins.

Do you ever meet “in person”?
Sometimes, we have picnics/gatherings for some holidays, and do get together for coffees and lunches occasionally.

What if I have other questions?
E-mail the founder or post it to the list. To use the e-mails below, copy and paste the address into your e-mail program, and replace the -AT- with an @ symbol.
